New To Blogging?

Blogs - or web logs - are Internet sites where authors frequently update their content about a specific subject, topic or about nothing in particular. The MCLA blog is a general interest blog about student, academic and community life. In the future you may find posts here about MCLA sports, lectures or campus events, or posts highlighting interesting things on the internet.
One of the neat features about blogs is that you can usually subscribe to them through an RSS feed, which notifies you when a new blog post as been submitted.

There are many ways to subscribe to blogs, I like to keep a list in Bloglines and if you have a Bloglines account, you can usually subscribe with this button.

If you use NewsGator, then you can usually subscribe with this button.

Once you start reading blogs, you will find that your subscription list will grow fairly quickly, so it is a good idea to group them, like you would a playlist for your I-Pod.

Technorati keeps track of the most popular blogs. They tend to be heavily technology and politics oriented, but Technorati also has a great search engine, so you can find a blog for just about any interest you have.

If you like to follow national politics, these two sites are the biggest players:
Daily Kos is one of the most popular left leaning political blogs.
Instapundit writes about politics from the right.

If fashion and celebrity gossip are more your speed, check out the daily celeb. If sports are more your style, don’t miss Boston Dirt Dogs for all your Red Sox news.
Academic blogs tend to join forces, so for instance, you can find lots of Science Blogs or History Blogs listed on one site.

That should be enough to get you started, have fun and don’t forget to subscribe to this site.
