Joshua Tefft’s comment regarding Richard Criddle’s sculpture Mr. Goodbody is incorrect. While Mr. Goodbody is a representation of a real teacher, he was one of Mr. Criddle’s teachers during his childhood in England. The real Mr. Goodbody had no connection to the College.

You’ve missed a very important aspect of Mr. Goodbody. This sculpture was created from an original desk found in Murdock Hall when it was being prepared for the remodel project. Several desks were “reconfigured” by artists and displayed at MCLA’s Gallery 51 at 51 Main Street, North Adams. I think this one was purchased at auction, then donated back to the school. The professors aren’t really as scary as Mr. Goodbody. Well, maybe one or two. But not many of them, anyways. Some of them are equally as creative, though.

I’m in love with that sculpture: I don’t find it scary.
