WalkOutToday was one of those beautiful New England winter days that makes me glad to be alive. We recently had a nice snow storm following a few weeks of very cold temperatures. Winter was looking bleak. But, then today came. Our ENVI 101 class hiked out onto the 16 inch thick ice of Pontoosuc Lake to take some scientific readings for our hosts, Friends of Pontoosuc Lake.

Here we are walking out onto the lake. We will measure water temperature at different depths, Dissolved Oxygen, and the depth of the lake, itself.
