Greetings,
I am an MCLA student working on an creative art project revolving around North Adams, Massachusetts. It is still in the conceptual stages currently, and I am asking the public to voice their opinion on the following question:
What Image, Images, Objects or Ideas come to mind when you think of North Adams?
Anything can help. Memories, places you’ve been; anything of significant recognition to North Adams. This is an art piece, in which I will be developing a sculpture, so try to keep that in mind. Happy, satisfying, and more concrete images are preferred. i.e More centralized and focused concepts such as “Jacks Hot Dogs” or “Fall Leaves” are more helpful than responses like “The Glenn” (which are of course, equally appreciated)
Otherwise. Have fun. Please take a few short minutes to fill out the short response survey below.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me at: Tom@NorthAdamsArtProject.Com
Thank you all in advance for your participation.

Hi Tom!
I think of the Cascades waterfall. It’s hidden down in the woods at the end of Notch Road. Most locals know about it, but lots of students don’t. It’s beautiful and a nice little walk through the woods.

Joan - the Cascades waterfall will be featured in an upcoming podcast as one of the things we love about North Adams.

The Soldiers’ Monument at Monument Square comes to mind when I think of North Adams.

The soldier’s monument, the library, and big old factory buildings.

The best icon of North Adams I have heard, given that there is a street, mill and dam named after it is…
…. The Beaver.
Imagine huge fiberglass beavers painted whimsically on all the street corners. T-shirts emblazoned with “Come to North Adams and see our Beavers.”
Best Idea Ever!

I’ve only been to North Adams once, but the thing that stuck out in my eyes were the old factory buildings.
