Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts will hold a Faculty Recital on Friday, March 23, at 7:30 pm in the Church Street Center Auditorium, where vocal and instrumental pieces will be performed. On Friday, March 24, the MCLA Brass and Percussion Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the First Congregational Church in North Adams. Both events are free and open to the public.

“Movies for Kids” continues Saturday, March 24 at Western Gateway Heritage State Park’s Visitors center at 2:00 PM. Popular children’s movies are shown on the large screen television in the Center’s theater. The movies are presented by the Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Movie Gallery in the Steeple City Plaza. This week’s movie is “Brother Bear II.” Although no admission is charged, donations of new, unused items will be accepted to support the Military Family Support Group, which tries to send some cheer to American service men and women in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo. On Saturday, March 24, The Catholic Churches of North Adams present “Saturday Soup and a Movie,” in the Multi-Purpose room of the Saint Anthony Center. “The Flowers of Saint Francis” will be shown and is on the Vatican’s list of best films of all time. Soup is served from 5:00 – 5:45 PM, and the movie begins at 6:00 PM. The public is welcome to attend both or either of these friendly Lenten fellowships.

The public is invited to a Hunger Awareness Dinner hosted by UNITY’s Youth Leadership Program on Sunday, March 25 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the American Legion Post 125 on American Legion Drive. The dinner will be provided on a donate-what-you-can basis, with both money and non-perishable food items accepted as donations to the Louison House and Elizabeth Freeman Center. The First Congregational Church of North Adams, United Church of Christ will host its monthly 4th Sunday Jazz worship this Sunday, March 25th beginning at 5:30 p.m. in their Assembly Hall. A few openings remain in UNITY’s new creative writing workshop for middle school-aged students. This free workshop, which is held 3:00- 4:30 pm on Wednesdays (through the end of the school year), can be found at the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition at 85 Main Street.
