The exhibit “`Becoming Pittsfield: The Gilded Age” is on display now through May 24, 2007 in the Community Gallery of the Visitors Center at Western Gateway Heritage State Park. It may be viewed 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 PM. On loan from the Berkshire County  Historical Society , the exhibit explores the economic and physical  development of Pittsfield from 1865-1917, as the community was transformed from a town to a city. The April monthly forum of the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition takes place Friday, April 13, from 10:00 – 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church on the corner of Eagle and Main Street. The discussion, which is open to the public, focuses on new developments in collaboration between the four Berkshire colleges and social service organizations in the County. Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts’ Patrons of the Arts will present an evening of classical opera with soprano Monica Yunus on Friday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Church Street Center Auditorium. Inkberry Presents: WordPlay at Papyri featuring Ekphrastic writers. The event will be held at Papyri Books, 45 Eagle Street, on Saturday, April 14, at 7:00 PM. This month’s Wordplay will feature Paula Orlando, Leanne Jewett and Karen Kane, who will read original work. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own ekphrastic poems to read during the popular open mic portion of the program. As always admission is free and open to the public. On April 15 at the North Adams Museum of History and Science, Robert Campanile will sign copies of his latest work, “Post Cards of North Adams.” All proceeds benefit the North Adams Historical Society.
