The work of more than a dozen artists from the Pittsfield Storefront Artists Project will be exhibited in MCLA Gallery 51 in “Sister City Showing: Pittsfield’s Storefront Artist Project – The First Five Years,” which will open on Thursday, May 31, at a reception from 6-8 p.m., 51 Main St., North Adams. On June 2, Paul Marino will lead a historical walk around Hillside Cemetery, beginning at the top of the hill off Brown Street. As with all Marino’s historical walks, this event is free and open to the public. All are held on Saturdays, all start at 2:30 PM; interested persons are advised to dress for the weather, wear a hat with a wide brim and a good pair of walking shoes; carry a canteen or bottle of water, and be prepared to have their ears talked off! The Gallery at North Adams Antiques is pleased to announce the June 2 opening of “The Natural” a group exhibition of works dealing with subjects from nature. The exhibition will run from June 2 through July 22, 2007, with an official opening on June 2 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM. Join St. John’s Church members for the annual Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans festival on Sunday, June 3, at 10:00 AM. This colorful worship service comes to us from Scotland where the word Kirk is Scottish for Church and a Tartan is the traditional woven pattern of unevenly spaced stripes crossing at right angles in a woolen fabric that distinguishes one Scottish Clan from another. North Adams’ Mill City Productions will stage the musical “Pippin” on June 15th, 16th, 22nd, and 23rd at 8:00 pm and at 2:00 pm on June 17th. The 21st annual Friendship Knot Quilters Guild exhibit will be on view in the Community Gallery of the Visitor’s Center at Western Gateway Heritage State through July 6, 2007.
