The fall 07 major theatre production will be Major Barbara by George Bernard Shaw, direction by Bonnie Bishoff, production design by Andrew Hoar and costume design by Dawn C. Shamburger.
A masterpiece of realistic, romantic, rebellious Tragi-comedy which pits a strong-minded, idealistic young woman and her lover against her equally strong-minded father, a wealthy arms manufacturer, In a struggle as contemporary as tomorrow.
“In this sparkling comedy, originally staged in 1905, Andrew Undershaft, a millionaire armaments dealer, loves money and despises poverty. His energetic daughter Barbara, however, is a devout major in the Salvation Army. She sees her father as just another soul to be saved. But when the Salvation Army needs funds to keep going, it is Undershaft who saves the day.”
