Pakistan is a very hot issue right now and Salman Ahmad has been one of the few voices here in America to speak up about what is currently happening in his home country. He will be performing at the Nobel Peace Prize Awards directly following his performance here. He is also featured in the new TV show “Aliens in America” and his cover of Elvis Costello’s “What so funny about peace love and understanding” is the theme song for the show.

Songs of the Spirit, a celebration of song and music showcasing the commonalities found in different faith traditions from around the globe, has become an eagerly anticipated and meaningful part of the holiday season. Featured this year will be music from Muslim, Jewish, and Christian traditions as performed by rock guitarists from the East, West, and in between. Salman Ahmad, a Pakistani guitarist nearly as famous for his humanitarian efforts as he is for his music, and Grammy nominated Gary Lucas share the stage with local favorite Jamie Choquette ’98. From Florida Mountain, MA, comes the Gabriel Abbott Children’s Choir to share their songs of peace and hope. Between each set will be readings curated by MCLA’s Jewish Student Union and Christian Fellowship, and read by local clerics.
